Natalie is an educator and leader, devoted to bringing people more fully alive in creative, silly, and adventurous ways. She has spent the last decade in informal education, working as an educator, mentor, and coordinator in institutions such as the Museum of Flight, Digitalis, Wilderness Awareness School, and the Seattle Universal Math Museum. Her planetarium work has been featured at the Live Interactive Planetarium Symposium and the American Astronomical Society, and she has served as a NASA JPL Solar System Ambassador, Seattle Astronomical Society education volunteer, and a guest judge for the Mars 2020 rover naming contest. She is currently pursuing an MA in Cultural Astronomy (University of Wales, Trinity Saint David.) Natalie also holds a BFA in Musical Theatre, and has been active in Seattle’s fringe theatre scene, particularly in co-creating works that blend imagination, science, and nature.
In her work, Natalie observed that the world of astronomy often focuses on advanced telescopes, computer models, and big-money aerospace companies; and that nature schools often focus on skills such as animal tracking and plant identification, but hardly ever address patterns in the sky. As a lifelong stargazer with a passion for navigating by the stars, walking in the twilight, and tracking the movements of the planets, Copeland seeks to bridge these worlds with The Sky Connection.
Before coming out to the Pacific Northwest Hannah Libby finished her BAs in Restoration Ecology & Conservation Biology with minors in Astrobiology and Marine Science. She has been teaching nature connection and survival skills for over a decade, and her outdoor adventures started with her mother, father, grandmother and grandfather. Her father is an Astronomy enthusiast, and many family trips involved telescopes and open starry fields. Deeply in love with the arts, she has been drawing, taking photos and making jewelry as long as she has known she has had hands. She is a rescue diver, and likes to fish, paddle board and eat oysters off the beach. She is a Natural Science Illustrator and is currently pursuing MAs in Psychology and Anthropology through Harvard Extension, an Ethics and Philosophy certificate, and Death Dula certification.
