Night Club (FREE)
Come explore the power and mystery of the night! Night Club invites you to explore your relationship with darkness and light by practicing principles of nature connection beyond the realm of day. Through games, discussion, modeling, art, sensory play, and more, you’ll experience:
- Astronomy: Track the cycles and rhythms of the Earth, Moon, and stars throughout the seasons, navigate by the sky, use an amateur astronomer’s tools, and hear cross-cultural sky stories.
- Awareness: Explore like a creature of the night, use your non-dominant senses, and move quietly and surely.
- Games & Challenges: Get your blood racing, belly laughing, and senses tingling as you play in the dark.
- Nocturnal Critters: Encounter the night life!
- Campfire Connection: Sing songs, tell stories, discuss dreams, create art, and talk science around the fire.
The activities offered will differ from one meeting to the next as we move through the seasons, but no matter the flavor, expect opportunities to deepen your connection with night, nature, and self.
Our 2023-2024 season has ended, but you can subscribe for Substack for updates for the 2024-2025 season. We will no longer be hosted at Wilderness Awareness School, but we're working hard on bringing Night Club to a dark space near you soon.
Sky Sessions
We'll come to you! Book one of these common workshops for your scout troop, party, school, retreat, or conference. Tell us a bit about your group when booking so we can customize your program for your needs. Price includes travel within 50 miles roundrip of Northgate Transit Center.
Step Into Stargazing
(1 hour, $200)
Day or night, we'll get your stargazing basics covered.
Book this workshop by day, and you'll explore sky navigation, differentiate regions of the sky and why constellations appear the way they do, discover where to look for planets and the zodiac, and use modern and ancient technology to learn how to find visible night sky objects.
Book this workshop by night and there's a chance that you'll get to see the real thing as well!
This is not a telescope program but instead focuses on what you can see with your eyes. This workshop requires access to electricity for the virtual stargazing portion.
Meet the Moon
(1 hour, $200)
In this lunar crash course, we'll cover the phases of the moon, eclipses, common misconceptions about this satellite, and more! There are always more things to learn about the moon and more ways to learn them. Shadow puppets, Oreos, storytelling, human models, and answers to your lunar questions are all potentially here.
Introduction to Twilight
(2+ hours, $350)
Gather your crew for an immersive evening sinking into the darkness together. Learn about the different phases of twilight, play games, and practice sensory awareness skills that will have you seeing like an owl, listening like a rabbit, and using your hands like a raccoon.
This program requires a dark outdoor space, such as a large yard or park, and can only be booked for specific times in the evening.
Build Your Own Workshop
If it's in the sky, we can build the perfect workshop based on your preferred topic and specific circumstances, including:
