Know the Night
Explore the power and mystery of the night! The Know the Night experience at Camp Sealth invites you to explore your relationship with darkness and light by slowing down and connecting with nature in the wild woods of Vashon after sunset.
This experience is offered twice annually. Upcoming dates include March 21, 2026, and October 24, 2026. ($10/person, $20/overnight.)
This program is about 3 hours long with an optional overnight. In a typical event:
- Guests will arrive just before sunset and enjoy s’mores and songs around the fire while we introduce ourselves and establish safety protocols.
- Next, we’ll enjoy a variety of activities in the twilight to help us adjust our senses to the darkness, such as sensory games or a sit spot.
- We’ll end the night in the dark with a walk, stargazing, more games, or challenge-by-choice activities.
- Add an optional overnight cabin rental to experience more of the night, disregard evening ferry schedules, or walk along the beach in the morning.

Immersive Workshops
Step Into Stargazing
This stargazing workshop focuses on what you can see in the sky with just your eyes. It is highly customizable, depending on what you'd like to learn about. Possible topics can include:
- Cardinal directions and stellar navigation
- Seasonality and seasonal constellations
- What's in the sky tonight
- How to find planets and the zodiac
- Cultural conversations and sky myths
- Phases of the moon
There are also several facilitation options:
- Presentation: This is a one-hour indoor presentation using virtual stargazing software. You provide the screen/projector, and we provide the presentation. This is ideal for small, indoor spaces such as classrooms and living rooms.
- Outside: Book your presentation after dark and add this optional half-hour workshop to apply what you just learned outside. Learn to read a planisphere, and watch for the green laser! This option is weather-dependent, and is ideal for workshops located next to large yards or fields with minimal overhead lighting.
- Planetarium: This is a one-hour presentation using an inflatable planetarium dome and digital projecting equipment for a truly immersive night sky experience. This option requires a large space (25 ft. wide, 25 ft. long, 15 ft high) and access to electricity. It is ideal for large meeting rooms, gyms, and community centers, and can accomodate approximatley 25 people per show.

Introduction to Twilight
Gather your crew for an immersive evening of sinking into the darkness together. Learn about the different phases of twilight, play games, and practice sensory awareness skills that will have you seeing like an owl, listening like a rabbit, and using your hands like a raccoon.
This program requires a dark outdoor space, such as a large yard or park, and can only be booked for specific times in the evening. This program is also highly customizable, and can be thought of as your own personal backyard version of "Know the Night," so please reach out with questions or requests. Rates start at $300.
